The courage to heal is a matter of the Heart. When entering the therapeutic arena, both therapist and client consciously or not, choose to enter a field of vulnerability and risk.
This is indeed a courageous choice. For real healing to take place the involvement of the heart is crucial, but as we all know involving the heart could make us vulnerable. Being vulnerable implies being open to the intrusion and penetration of pain trough the walls of protection we have so diligently built around our hearts. In a paradoxical way we need courage (the passion of the heart) to dare to be vulnerable and open up the very same heart we vowed to protect at all cost.
The courage to heal involves daring to open the gates and lower the bridge; For the minds to be brave enough and stay open in the face of uncertainty and allow the hearts to open up to penetrate and be penetrated by the healing power of love
